During the constitutional convention of 1786, George Washington sat in this chair, engraved with the image of a sun on the horizon. James Madison recorded that as the last members were signing the constitution, Benjamin Franklin observed that artists have difficulty depicting whether a sun on the horizon is rising or setting. Then he said:
"I have often and often in the course of the Session, and the vicissitudes of my hopes and fears as to its issue, looked at that behind the President without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting: But now at length I have the happiness to know that it is a rising and not a setting Sun."
There is plenty of fear, division, and pessimism in our country, and many may be unsettled as to whether the sun is rising or setting in relation to our country. At The Rising Gazette, we "have the happiness of knowing that it is a rising and not a setting sun." Our goal is contribute that rising by helping develop the rising generation, teaching them to observe, giving them skills to communicate their thoughts, and helping them become informed, thoughtful citizens. If our youth can do that, then the sun is most definitely rising on our great country.
We are a non-political low-profit limited liability company focused on this mission of developing youth and promoting citizenship and community.
